Update from the Nancy Ascher, TTS 2018 Congress Chair / TTS President

Update! New Congress Features & Abstract Submission Deadline Extension

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing today to give you an update on some new important features and enhancements for the TTS 2018 Madrid Congress, abstract deadline extension, and some of the great benefits that you and your Young Investigators may benefit from in attending the meeting.

The abstract deadline has officially been extended to December 6, 2017 due to general demand from the transplantation community. We have been made aware of a number of conflicting timelines on grant submissions, Thanksgiving holidays, and other commitments around the World. Despite overwhelming numbers of abstracts received, we want to make sure to get everyone’s abstract. This will be the only extension allowed. The abstracts already submitted are now being peer-reviewed as planned originally.

Mentorship and trainees

I, as many of you, was introduced to the Society and the Congress by a mentor. In my case, John Najarian encouraged me to participate at a TTS Congress and this encouragement and support helped me discover new connections, make new friends and foster ideas. Our main congress theme is “Outcome Driven” however I believe that “Discover and Connect” is another equally important theme for the Congress. As such we are providing many awards for Young Investigators and Trainees, very low registration fees, affordable housing and much more. Take a moment to visit our website and review the “Young Investigator / Student Guide to TTS 2018”.

Program Update

We have published our Plenary and State-of-the-Art Speakers on our website and are going to unveil the Early Morning Symposia Sessions by the end of the month.

See you in Madrid!

I hope you will join TTS and our local hosts, the Sociedad Española de Trasplante and Sociedad Madrileña de Trasplantes, to showcase one of the best organ donation systems in the world, to make new connections, to learn and to help us shape the future of transplantation.

Sincerely,

Nancy Ascher, MD
